That’s what search engine optimization (SEO) does. You might hear about two types of SEO or three types of SEO, but in this article, we will go through thirteen different types of SEO. Before diving into each type of SEO, it is essential to know what SEO is?

What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

We follow the set of strategies, rules, and techniques to increase our website traffic from organic search results. These SEO strategies and techniques help websites rank well in search results of the relevant keyword.

What are the different types of SEO?

SEO is divided into multiple types. In this post, we will talk about thirteen different types of Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

  • White hat SEO
  • Black hat SEO
  • Grey Hat SEO
  • Negative SEO
  • On-Page SEO
  • content SEO
  • Off-Page SEO / Off-Site SEO
  • Technical SEO
  • Local SEO
  • ASO (App Store Optimization)
  • YouTube SEO
  • Voice Search SEO (Voice SEO)
  • Mobile SEO

Let’s dive into each type in detail.

Types of SEO: White Hat SEO.

White hat SEO techniques are those tactics that google recommend to improve your website’s search ranking. In easy terms, White Hat SEO is about following the rules. If you follow the rules, Google will reward you in a good way. You can also read about these rules from Google search engine guidelines

In order to see results, you need to be patient. White hat SEO is low risk and highly rewarding if you do it correctly. Low risk means there is no risk of getting banned or bumped down if there is a new change in the algorithm. Some examples of white hat SEO are. Earning high-quality contextual links, creating high-quality content, extensive keywords research, Schema.org, structured markup, etc.

Some white hat SEO techniques are.

  • Creating High-quality content.
  • Optimizing HTML.
  • Making website user friendly.
  • Sharing content on social media.
  • Using content-relevant keywords.
  • Using highly authoritative inbound link.
  • Make website navigation simple.
  • Fast page loading times OR using accelerated mobile page version (AMP).

Types of SEO: Black Hat SEO.

This type of SEO is opposite to white hat SEO. It takes advantage of the weaknesses of Google or other search engines to gain high traffic and to dominate its competitors by totally using the wrong means. In short, it dominates all of the rules which google allows us to follow to get organic traffic.

Most businesses use black hat SEO techniques because it generates fast traffic in a short time, but your website may drop rankings or maybe banned or penalized by Google or another search engine just because of it. Some examples of black hat SEO are: keyword stuffing, paid link building, hidden content, showing wrong or irrelevant content to crawlers and visitors, etc.

Some tactics that fall under Black Hat SEO are:

  • Keyword’s stuffing.
  • Cloaking.
  • Link spamming.
  • Hidden content.
  • Hidden links.
  • Showing irrelevant content to crawler and visitors.
  • Paid links.
  • Using irrelevant keywords.
  • Copying content. i.e., using other website content on your website.
  • Over optimizing HTML headings.
  • Irrelevant 301 or 304 redirections.
  • Creating low-quality automated content and links.
  • Reporting competitors’ site for spamming even though they are not spamming or using any black hat or illegal SEO technique.
  • Producing or ranking irrelevant pages on certain keywords and then redirecting them to other unrelated websites or pages.

The search engine will ban all those websites using shortcuts and illegal means to get high traffic. The bottom line is that you need to avoid all of these tactics to make your website secure from being banned or penalized.

Types of SEO: Grey Hat SEO.

Grey hat SEO is something in between white hat SEO and black hat SEO. According to Google search engine guidelines, this type of SEO is not considered suitable, but it is not illegal like black hat SEO. It is a risky type of SEO and is still good not to use it.

Many agencies still use this type of SEO because of some pressure to see quick and fast results. But it is best to avoid all of these types of SEO to secure your website from any issue.

Some examples of grey hat techniques are:

  • Spun content.
  • Excessive Link exchanges.
  • Suspicious link exchange.
  • Paid reviews.
  • Clickbait articles.

Types of SEO: Negative SEO.

This type of SEO is different from other types of SEO. Your primary focus is on your website in other SEO types to boost leads, sales, and visitors. But the negative SEO is mainly used between businesses are their competitors and harms competitors’ websites to approve their rankings.

Most companies use the black hat, grey hat, and some illegal SEO to hurt their competitors to improve their rankings.

Strategies companies used with negative SEO are:

  • Posting negative views.
  • Hacking competitor’s website.
  • Building illegal, spammy, and unnatural links to competitors’ websites to harm them.

The primary purpose of negative SEO is to harm others just for personal use. It is challenging to control negative SEO because your competitors are harming (defecting) your website.

It is essential to monitor your website daily to find out that is there anything damaging your website or not. If yes, then you have to find out the solution immediately before it’s too late.

Types of SEO: On-Page SEO.

The most significant type of SEO is On-Page SEO. On-Page SEO is related to anything we put on our web page, such as title, content, images, products, downloadable files, videos, etc. Effective on-page SEO depends upon high-quality, informative, and detailed content. You must need to write high-quality, top-notch content compared to your competitors that will fulfill your goals and visitors’ needs.

Content is not the only thing that you have to care about in on-page SEO. There are also some more factors about which you have to concern to get dominance over your competitors. Some of these factors are as follows.

Some elements of the website you need to optimize as a part of On-Page SEO are as follow:

Keywords.

The words or phrases that people type into a search engine to solve their queries or results of their needs are called keywords. Keywords are the most important and most impactful thing. You need to use keywords having high monthly search volume and low competition.

Keywords are of two types Short-tail keywords are those phrases that consist of up to three words, for example, “black color shoes” these types of keywords have high search volume and high keyword difficulty.

example-of-result-of-short-tail-keyword
example-of-result-of-short-tail-keyword

On the other hand, long-tail keywords are those phrases that consist of words in between three to nine. These keywords also have high monthly search volume but have low keyword difficulty, which means it is easy to rank on long-tail keywords. For example, “black leather shoes for hiking” it is easy to rank on this keyword compared to the previous short-tail keyword example.

example of result of long-tail keyword
example of the result of long-tail keyword

You can easily see a huge difference between these two search results.

You have to select the most relevant and suitable keywords for your post, product, or brand. And have to optimize your content according to that keyword to get the best traffic and engagement.

It would be best if you avoid keyword stuffing. It means that your target keyword count is no more than 1% to 2% of the total length of your post. For example, if your content or article is 1000 words, you must avoid writing the target keyword more than 10 to 20. You can use a synonym or other relevant keyword to avoid keywords stuffing means win, and success has the same meaning.

URL’s:

URL stands for uniform resource locator. It is nothing more than the address of the web page, post, product, or article. Everything on the internet has a unique URL.

If we talk about SEO, then each URL or web address should briefly describe the content and include a relevant keyword.

You can also take the URL of this blog post as an example.

H1 tag:

The H tag family is used for many purposes. It is used for both styling text and making search engines know the vital thing on your webpage, and it also creates hierarchy through different types of SEO.

The important thing is that you only have to use only one H1 tag on a single webpage. Just designate one main keyword and use it as H1 to make it easy for a search engine to know what is essential on this webpage.

If you make more than one keyword as H1, the crawler or search engine may confuse knowing what is essential on this web page and what is not. Most commonly, we use the title as the H1 tag.

Example of H1 tag is <h1>main keyword</h1>.

Title:

Every webpage must contain a title of about 10 to 70 characters long. Make your title as much descriptive as you can. It should entice people to click on your article. Use comma, colon, pipes, or any separator where needed in your title. You can also use the title of this blog as an example.

The title appears in google like this.

example-of-title-in-SERP
example-of-title-in-SERP

Meta Description:

The meta description appears just below the web page title in the Search Engine Result Page (SERP). It describes the content of the webpage in 160 to 300 characters or less.

If your description is more than 300 characters, then google will cut that, and it seems ellipsis (…….) at the end. It would be best if you avoided that because no one likes the sentence cuts from the middle. It would help if you needed to use your focus keywords in the meta description.

You can also see an example of a meta description in this image.

Image Alt tags:

Alt tags stand for alternative tags. These tags describe the image’s content so that the user and search engine can easily understand it. People ignore adding Alt tags while writing content or doing SEO because they think it is not a ranking factor or useless. After all, the viewers can easily view and understand the image.

But the search engines or crawlers do not see the images. They only understand the code. If you did not add the Alt tag, you would lose a great opportunity to rank your pictures. Images also generate traffic.

Don’t overwrite keywords in images. Alt tags describe the image. What this image is about and adds keywords where necessary. If you add Alt tags correctly, then you will see a massive rise in your website traffic.

Content:

We will talk about this type in detail later. The reason behind mentioning this type here is to let you know that this is also the primary, impactful, and most crucial on-page optimization.

Internal linking means connecting the pages of your website using links. It also helps the users and crawlers to visit that page. It also increases the authority of the new pages.

Only use relevant internal linking means don’t use or add any irrelevant page without any need. It will affect your SEO. Let’s take an example of internal linking from this webpage.

internal linking example from Wikipedia
internal linking example from Wikipedia

You can easily see from the example of Wikipedia that all the blue highlighted keywords are giving an internal link to one of the website’s personal posts. It will help the users and crawlers to visit these pages quickly.

Navigation:

Your website must be easy and fast to navigate so that the visitors can quickly identify their needs and wants whenever they visit your website.

Also, don’t forget to add breadcrumbs. Even though they are not a huge ranking factor, they will help your visitors track their path to go back to the exact page quickly they need to go.

Suppose it is challenging to track your website. In that case, the visitors can immediately go back from your website or leave your website, which means your bounce rate increases, significantly affecting your SEO.

Design and usability of website:

The design and usability of the website also contribute to the overall SEO of the website. Unprofessional and unappealing design can cause users to leave your website because he cannot find what he wants.

Bad design will increase your bounce rate and affect your website’s ranking because it sends a signal to google or other search engines that the site is irrelevant or ranking in a wrong keyword or maybe a spammy site.

You must make sure that your website is designed professionally, clean, and has a user-friendly structure to help users find what they want to get more leads and increase ranking.

Let’s take the example of Wikipedia design. It is too simple and easy to understand what this platform is. And there are no irrelevant things that may confuse its visitors.

On-page SEO techniques examples:

  • Create high-quality content according to customer’s needs and add related keywords to it.
  • Use keywords in elements, H1 tags, content, URLs, alt tags, title tags, Headings, etc.
  • Make website navigation simple.
  • Make website design simple and user-friendly.
  • Avoid keyword stuffing. Don’t use keywords more than 1% or 2% of the total length of the article.
  • User anchor text where needed.
  • Do proper internal linking.

Content SEO:

Most of the time, we heard that content is king. It doesn’t mean that only lengthy content is everything you must have to write unique, relevant, helpful, correct, and good quality content to get good traffic.

It is the most crucial part of any SEO technique. Without content, it is almost impossible for your website to get any position on the search Engine Result Page (SERP).

The first thing you have to do before writing content is finding low competition and longtail keywords. Longtail keywords mean keywords are having a length of three or more than three.

It would help if you had to do keyword research to get the list of keywords you want to rank for. You have to find keywords according to your brand, blog, product or service, etc.

Almost all your SEO depends on keyword research. If you do it wrong, you will never get any ranking or get the wrong audience.

After finding the best suitable keywords, the second thing you need to do is write content on all those keywords to get a ranking.

You have to write content according to your audience their needs and wants. If you serve your visitors with better Content, Google will serve you in the form of the best ranking of your content. Always write organic content and avoid content duplication. Don’t do content scraping means to use other website’s content. It is a form of Black hat SEO.

After writing the content, you must have to track your content position to make it better. And optimize your content according to the changing algorithms or SEO strategies.

Avoid Content cannibalization. Content cannibalization means that you have more than one article written in almost the same thing or same category most of the time.

Sometimes google or other search engine gets confused about that content and showing these two different contents on the same keywords. You have to find all these problems and make some changes to make a difference in both these topics. To avoid Google to rank two or more different topics under the same keyword search.

Content SEO may also contain relevant keywords, multimedia files, elements, etc., take an example of two websites. One of those two websites has a huge amount of content as compared to the other. In comparison, another website has less but good quality content. The visitors like the second website having good quality content.

The first website has a high bounce rate, which will affect its ranking, and the second website will get a huge benefit because of good quality content. That’s why quality overcomes quantity.

Increase dwell time. Dwell time means the time that users spend on your website. As much the dwell time is as much your content is relevant to visitor’s needs.

While writing the content, you must need to take in mind that your priority is your visitor. So, write the content which will serve him better. Only write keywords where needed.

Make your keyword density between 1% to 2%. Don’t do keyword stuffing. Keyword stuffing is also the wrong approach to rank your content.

Types of SEO: Off-page SEO.

What is off-page SEO?

Off-page SEO is also known as ongoing SEO. It is the collection of activities that you do outside your website to increase backlinks. The links that point to your website are called backlinks.

Off-page SEO techniques are used to increase your website’s domain rating, URL rating and to increase website ranking. Multiple numbers of link-building activities are done in this type of SEO.

Why is off-page SEO important?

Google focuses on multiple factors before ranking a website on the first page. And it is also tough to rank a website only with quality content.

If you don’t focus on off-page SEO, your website will rank below other websites focusing on off-page SEO.
It would help if you needed some off-page SEO techniques to increase the website’s ranking. Getting backlinks is one of them. Off-page SEO techniques build website recognition and domain authority.

There are multiple activities you need to do to increase the multiple numbers of backlinks. We will discuss all of them later.

Keep in mind that link building is not the only type of off-page SEO. There are also many other types, but this type perhaps is the most vital of the lot.

There are two different types of links Do-follow links and No-follow links.

The do-follow links are the primary type of backlinks that are also very beneficial to websites. It will allow Google to give link juice of your website to that website you have given a link. Use relevant keywords as an anchor text while giving a do-follow link to any website.

To know more about why do-follow links are essential, let’s take an example. It means that you give some of your value to that website you have given a link to. For example, you have a business website, giving a do-follow link to any website.

This will help that website rank high on Google’s or any other search engine results page (SERP)

Before ranking a website, Google also notices the number of unique do-follow links your website gets. As much as the number of do-follow your website gets as much, there are chances for your website to rank higher.

An example of do-follow link is as follow.

<a href=”https://www.codefossils.com”>CodeFossils</a>

No-follow links are opposite to do-follow links. Suppose you have gotten any no-follow links. It means that you are not getting any link juice. The crawler or spider will read that no-follow link and ignores that.

These are used to reduce web spamming because many websites or website holders use link building as a black hat technique. However, no-follow links don’t have any direct influence on the ranking of the website.

But they also serve website ranking because people click them to reach that page. No-follow links are introduced to reduce link spamming.

Note: While giving a link to any website, keep in mind that only use relevant keywords to the type of link as an anchor text and don’t do link spamming, and most importantly, don’t give a link to an outside source.

For example, if you are talking about any blog website, use the same keyword as an anchor text, i.e., visit this blog website or the website’s name and give a link to that blog website.

An example of no-follow link is as follow.

<a href=”https://www.codefossils.com” rel=”nofollow”>Blog CodeFossils</a>

It is also essential to get to know which type of link you are getting. As we discussed above, the two types of links No-follow and Do-follow. Even though No-follow links neither increase your website’s domain authority nor serve you link juice.

But it is also harmful or not a good SEO practice to only getting the Do-follow links. You have to make the process of link building natural by getting both no-follow and do-follow links.

Otherwise, there is a chance that Google may penalize you for getting only Do-follow links and may consider that something bad is happening or you are trying to spam a bot or crawler.

Some important factors to consider while doing off-page SEO.

Here are some important factors which you must need to consider while doing off-page SEO.

  • Type of Link.
  • Relevance of website.
  • Site traffic.
  • DA or Domain Authority.

Relevance of website:

Ensure that the website that is giving you a link is relevant to your website or article to which that website is giving a link. It is important to get a backlink from that website that has high DA (Domain Authority).

But it is also crucial to get a link from that website relevant to your content or website. An irrelevant link will harm your website SEO. An excessive number of irrelevant backlinks will reward you in the form of a penalty.

Site Traffic:

It is also crucial to measure the traffic of websites which other websites are driving towards you while doing off-page techniques like guest posting, submitting forums, answering questions, etc.

Multiple numbers of chrome extensions are available for that purpose. The reason behind measuring or finding the site traffic before processing or before doing any off-page activity is to know that whether that website or forum is suitable to proceed with these off-page SEO activities or not.

DA or Domain Authority:

There is multiple websites for measuring domain authority. Some best tools are Moz, Ahrefs, etc. The reason behind measuring domain authority before doing off-page SEO technique is to get to know the quality of that website.

Get a do-follow backlink from a high domain authority website to a low domain authority website. This link will significantly help that low DA website have a better page rank in the Search Engine Results Page (SERP).

What are the different types of Off-page SEO activities?

There are different types of off-page SEO activities. Some of them are as follows.

  • Blogger Outreach.
  • Broken link building.
  • Questions & Answers (Q&A).
  • Forum Posting.
  • Documents Submissions.
  • Image Submissions.
  • Social Bookmarking.
  • Newsletters.
  • Doing Influencer Outreach.
  • Social Networking.

Types of SEO: Technical SEO.

Most SEO experts consider technical SEO as the subset of on-page SEO. But here, we consider technical SEO as a unique type. It mainly focuses on the backend of website and server optimization that helps in websites ranking. Its primary focus is on increasing user experience and helping search engines to crawl and understand your website.

This type of SEO is also a critical and essential need of any website. It ensures that the search engine is crawling the whole of the website or not. Or the search engine is able or not able to understand your website.
Examples of technical SEO improvements are as follow.

Website Speed Optimization:

Google’s ranking algorithm is updating day by day to increase user’s experience. Now Google also considers page speed as a ranking factor. Google gives more priority to those websites which are not only fulfilling user needs but also very fast.

So, it is essential to optimize the website’s page loading speed to benefit others. Your website’s response time must not be more than 2.5s.

Improving your page speed may include some powerful techniques. For example, using browser caching, compressing images used in your website, cleaning up the code, or removing the useless code from the website.

Updating robots.txt file:

Robots.txt file tells the search engine that what to crawl and what not to trawl. You must have to update your robots.txt file so that it tells the search engine which parts are needed to crawl and which are not. Always make sure that all the irrelevant pages are blocked from crawling.

You can also generate robots.txt files from any online platform like SEO optimizer or internet marketing ninjas.

XML sitemap creation:

The primary purpose of creating an XML sitemap is that it helps search engines to crawl your website quickly. It also helps search engines to index your website correctly.

Duplicate content deletion:

Duplicate content also hurts your website’s ranking, and it is also a form of self-plagiarism. To avoid self-plagiarism, we use a canonical tag. The canonical tag (rel = canonical) tells that which page version of the website is original. 301 redirection is also very helpful. It redirects the traffic of one URL to another.

Website design responsiveness:

It is beneficial if your website has a responsive design. You must make your webpage design fully responsive for any device like mobile phones, tablets, laptops, etc. A responsive website delivers a better user experience.

Google also prefers responsive websites over non-responsive websites. A non-responsive website means that the website attempts to deliver all the content of the webpage, i.e., for a desktop over to the smartphone.

HTTPS/SSL:

Now google also consider security as a ranking factor. It gives more priority to secure websites over non-secure websites. A website having malware is an example of poor security.

No one likes to infect their computer with a virus by interacting the websites having malware or have less security. Google gives more importance to HTTPS than HTTP.

HTTPS means that the website is protected with Security Socket Layer (SSL).

This communication protocol provides secure communication between visitors and websites. Google gives huge priority to its users their personal information’s safety and security entered through them on the webpage. That’s why it prioritizes the websites protected by SSL over the ones that are not protected.

Types of SEO: Local SEO.

This type of SEO is challenging to execute, but there are many tactics you can take advantage of to increase local ranking.

As there are multiple numbers of services that the companies are providing online, some businesses are not located in some locations and require some customers to earn revenue.

If those businesses are not on google or in any search appearance, they cannot earn good revenue. Google shows results based on different locations, regions, states, areas, and countries for local businesses.

For example, the “near me” tag is the best and most important example of local Search. Using this keyword in the search bar, Google shows you the results according to your location, an example of local SearchSearch.

There is multiple steps that we need to take into accounts when we deal with local SEO. You may have claimed your Google my business page. It ensures that your business name, opening and closing hours and days, location, contact information, and reviews are displayed on google search results and Google Maps.

Your business listing also needs to be properly optimized with high-quality images, your business description, and real customers reviews and feedbacks.

It would help if you also ensured that your contact information and address are prominently displayed and highlighted schema markup to help Google find where it is.

You also need to perform other things to get good results like embedding a Google map on the home page, Landing page, about us, or contact page.

Adding a region, city, area, or proper location in your page titles, meta description, meta tags, etc., can also benefit your business.

There are different type of businesses, and each type of business require a different type of SEO based on their type. Local SEO is best for businesses having a physical existence. According to research, about 46% of the google searches are for local searches, and more than 80% of those searches converted into actual sales and purchases.

You can make your google my business account from here.

Types of SEO: App Store Optimization (ASO).

If you think that ASO is app store optimization and is not the type of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), somehow you are correct but google, and Bing is not the only type of Search Engines. Some App stores also get phenomenal searches every day, such as the Apple app store and google play store.

If you own an App, you must have to do some steps to make sure that those app stores are showing it to the precisely relevant people of that application or to those looking for that.

Most Search Engine Optimization experts said that ASO and on-page SEO are identical, but in reality, no one properly knows which factors are included in App store search algorithms. There are significantly fewer factors that you need to focus on.

Two of them are the Application title and icon. These are the first two things that anyone sees. So, you have to make them descriptive and attractive. The description of the application needs to be accurate and includes the keywords your users are using to search similar applications. You also need to add some related keywords there. The meta tags in the description also need to add those keywords as well.

The question that may arise in your mind is that we can also do off-page optimization of the website. Somehow you can get a benefit from doing off-page activities like link building etc. You can increase your application downloads by doing link building strategy. But it may be of no value for app store searching algorithms.

Types of SEO: YouTube SEO.

Like app store optimization YouTube SEO is also a niche-specific SEO. Most people didn’t consider YouTube as a search engine. But in real YouTube is one of the most popular search engines. And if you rank one of your videos on YouTube, you can quickly gain a comparatively colossal benefit. It will give your business’s online appearance a massive boost.

Now there is a query that how can you optimize your videos for the YouTube search engine?
It is much similar to another type of optimization.

The first thing you must need to do is to make your video so that it fulfills all visitor queries. It must solve all the visitor problems and is more entertaining than your competitors. If your video fulfills all these things, you will get massive likes, comments, and subscribers. It is a ranking signal on YouTube.

Your title and description of the video should be descriptive. The best keywords and long descriptions will help Google and YouTube find out your video’s main content. You can also add some relevant keywords. It will boost the ranking of our video. Adding a caption is also very beneficial. It will help those visitors who don’t understand the language used in that video.

Common video keywords are How to, reviews, tutorials, comparison, etc. First, you have to think about these common keywords before writing the video’s title and description. In every search, google prefers videos over text. If you optimize your video correctly, then there is a big chance that your video gets a chance to rank in the first position.

Example of YouTube video as result in SERP
Example of YouTube video as result in SERP

From the given example, you can easily see that Google prefers videos over the content on that specific keyword.

Some off-page strategies are also included. For example, encouraging people to embed your video on their blogs, social media posts, etc., will help your video gain more views, likes, and subscribers.

Types of SEO: Voice Search SEO (Voice SEO).

The primary purpose of voice SEO is to improve the ranking for voice searches. It is the new form of optimization. According to research, about 50% of the searches are done using voice search.

Voice search optimization prioritizes websites with load time less than 3 seconds, secured by SSL, answering the result of visitor’s query in less than 30 words, etc.

Why voice search trend increases?

As the voice recognition technologies are introduced, it gains more and more user interest because it provides an ease to them in doing their tasks like searching something on Google or any other search engine.

Now people don’t need to type their queries. They can only do this by voice search. It is also the reason behind the increment in the number of searches from mobile devices.

Now in 2021, more than 50% of the searches are done through voice search. The search engine optimization strategies change over time with the improvement or change in the search algorithm of Googles. So, SEO experts also have to adopt all those changes. As voice search is a new game, they need to improve their website’s content to improve voice search ranking.

SEO for voice search queries.

Multiple devices use multiple resources to answer users’ queries. For example, the Google home device uses Google’s database to answer user’s search queries. Siri voice search uses Bing’s database to answer user’s queries. Amazon’s Alexa uses multiple databases, i.e., Bing and amazon’s database, to answer user’s search queries. This is the main reason that there is no one method for voice optimization.

Since Google dominates all other search engines, we mostly prefer Google’s search engine and optimize according to Google’s voice search and Google hope devices.

The main difference between voice search and text search is the way we enter our query. Text entered search queries are shorter than voice enter search queries because voice search is easier and faster than typing.

For example, in-text search, we will enter a vaguer query like “best restaurants,” while in voice search, we will say, “show me the best restaurants near Lahore.”

Based on this change, we need to optimize the content according to long search queries. Voice search lends itself to questions and answers. Because of this, the website’s content also needs to be written in this way.

Long and detailed content was king in the last few years, but after the invention of voice search, the short and to the point content is more preferable. We can prefer short and to the point content to rank higher in voice search. The best approach is to add snippets or to add frequently asked questions pages.

Keywords research for voice SEO.

Keywords research is the 1st and the most important thing when we talk about search engine optimization. In voice searches, we mostly ask questions. That’s why we must need to do keywords research so that it also includes questions. Multiple tools allow us to get questions related to that seed keyword, such as Ahrefs.

In the SERP (search engine result page), Google provides us an area known as people also ask (PAA). This area lists additional questions related to the seed keywords entered in the search bar. This area will also allow us to expand our research questions.

To optimize the website according to voice search, we can add these keywords to the frequently asked question’s page. An example of a PAA box is given below.

Example of People Also Ask section
Example of People Also Ask section

Types of SEO: Mobile SEO.

Like other types of SEO, this type is also not optional. It is now an essential type of SEO. And it is essential to boost the website’s rankings. It is crucial to optimize your website for mobiles and other devices having a small display screen in today’s digital world.

As everyone uses smartphones and more than 50% of the searches are done from mobile and other similar devices. That’s why it is crucial to monitor and optimize the performance of the website for these devices.

The overall SEO is identical for all devices, i.e., mobiles, tablets, etc. But there are some tactics that you need to implement to gain high rankings. Such as, prefer not to use popups on devices having small display because on desktop it appears differently and it creates vast trouble to exit from these popups on mobile devices.

Page speed is the most important thing, and most websites have tremendous bounce rates because of slow speed. To decrease bounce rate, you must have to increase page loading speed on mobile devices. Your page speed must be lower than 2 seconds.

You can also test your website’s page loading speed from many tools. You can also access Google’s Page speed insight tool from here.

Besides this, I prefer to optimize your website and content by following the rules of white hat SEO. Please don’t use black hat SEO or gray hat SEO techniques because they may give you a high ranking, but that result is not long-lasting and may cause trouble for your website or brand.
